Make Homemade Fuse For Smoke Bombs

If for whatever reason you cannot obtain a firework fuse for your homemade smoke bomb, then there really is only one answer.

Make your own homemade fuse!

This safe and reliable fuse can be made from materials that are quite readily available to residents of the United States.

Canadians may have a hard time obtaining black powder, so for you, please use the link at the end of this post. You will be brought to another page I wrote with video instruction to make another type of fuse made from Potassium Nitrate and sugar.

I hope you enjoy this fuse making tutorial. Enjoy!

Homemade Fuse Component List

1) 2 Bowls
2) Black Powder
3) Water
4) Paper Towel
5) String

How To Make A Homemade Fuse

Step 1

Cut your string into two to or three inch pieces and soak them in a bowl of warm water for 5 minutes. The warm water will loosen the fabric of the string and allow the string to pull in and secure a tiny bit of the black powder as it dries.

Step 2

After soaking the string, transfer it into another bowl that you have filled with black powder and make a mound of the powder over the string. Make sure that you have gently shaken off the excess water from the string before you transfer it.

Step 3

Gently press the black power to the string by squeezing it in your dry hand. Transfer this homemade fuse to a paper towel and allow to dry.

This fuse will take a minimum of 8 hours to dry, but I strongly suggest leaving it overnight to see best results.
